Description
Magpies are often misunderstood and viewed as pests, but they’re actually quite interesting birds that are usually overlooked for both their beauty and their intelligence. Scientists have done experiments using face masks and figured out magpies can recognise other magpies, and people by their faces.
Magpies occupy the same territory for their entire life. Once they find a suitable patch, they will stay there forever!
Although they're not quite on par with the lyrebird, magpies are also excellent mimics and can impersonate a range of other birds as well as car alarms, dogs and cameras.
