Description

Wild Tasmanian Devils can only be found in Tasmania but previously they were also found on mainland Australia. They became extinct on the mainland around 3000 year ago. For a long time they were viewed as a pest and hunted to the point of near extinction until they were finally protected under new laws in 1941.

Devils are carnivores, which means they will eat other animals. Being scavengers, they often eat half-rotten meat and are like natural vacuum cleaners, keeping the bush healthy and reducing maggots, which can lead to fly strike in sheep. When devils find a dead animal, such as a wallaby, nothing goes to waste. They will eat the bones, fur, everything!

Wooden animal figures have long been used as a hands on educational tool to help children learn about different animals and the world around them while also having lots of fun engaging in imaginative play.

As their collection grows, so too will the adventures they have. From the farm to the forest and beyond.

These wonderfully unique handcrafted wooden Tasmanian Devils are an excellent addition to any small world play set up, as well as montessori and waldorf activities and are also a very special keepsake toy.

Each toy has been carefully sketched, designed, tested, carved and painted by hand. This entire process is intricate, detailed and always involves a lot of love and care from start to finish.

When you hold a Forest Melody wooden animal in your hands, you immediately feel and appreciate the incredible craftsmanship and know that these toys will be cherished for many years to come.

Tassie devil joy

Tasmanian devils are my favourite Aussie animal so I was so excited to find this little critter. Wonderfully made and perfect for little hands to play with. Look forward to many years of my daughter playing with her wooden Australian animals.
