Kovap was established in 1946 by the Sedlak brothers.

The first toy they produced together was the Road Roller, which was hugely popular and a best seller for the company at the time. It was the first toy in the world to feature the wind up mechanism. The design was so revolutionary and ahead of its time that it has remained the same for the past 70 years.

The engineering behind it is so advanced that there has never been a need to change or modify it.

The design of their tin toys was so unique and high quality that they quickly went on to become one of the most sought after tin collectables in the world.

One of the brothers, Eduard was a mechanical engineer and designed his first tractor in 1956 which also went on to be one of the most famous and best selling toys, in several countries around the world. It was the only toy at the time to feature gear shifting capability.

Kovap is the only manufacturer of these particular toys in the world. Each toy is tested under the strict European codes and standards of EN71 to ensure their safety so they can be sold not only as a collectable item but also as a toy for young children.

Kovap are also well known for working closely with such brands as Volkswagen, Mercedes, John Deere, Porche and Fendt (to name a few) in designing and manufacturing limited edition replicas and models of their products.

Kovap have always used the highest quality materials, which are all sourced from Czech Republic and still are to this day.

They still use the same traditional manufacturing tools, designs and processes that were used when the company first began, over 70 years ago. Each individual toy is assembled by hand and involves approximately 200 steps during this process, to produce them. This commitment to standards and attention to detail allows the brand to retain the highest quality and value, for which they are renowned.
